1.3 9 Sept 2016
- This page gives the reader some hitherto unavailable insight into the UK dimensions of the international project. Social media resources have only been recently exploited and to a limited extent.
- The first DMC at Droitwich has a website which tells you what might happen but not what has happened.
- The News page tells you that the Centre was formally launched on 20th November 2015.
- The Newsletter page has not changed since the first time the website author saw it in April - here.
- The second and last of the existing DMCs at Leominster has no website. The best news on offer is yesterday's news. "The official launch will take place on the 3rd May 2016 .." here. The author of this page has informed Worcester University that outdated webpages destroy momentum.
- You can't sell the goods if you don't put them in the market place.
- Thanks to the two staff pictured in 9, Leominster participants receive a monthly programme but only they can see what's going on.
- This website author is working flat out to promote DMCs but this sort of scenario makes it an uphill struggle.
2 It is important to focus on the nature of DMCs:

- This is a demonstration of how long things take from the first spark of interest to being nowhere near launching a DMC. In August 2016, "The first action for the (Initiation) group to be taken will be to carry out a feasibility/assessment of need within the community . . .". source 2.4.1 above asked the question - "(A) Dementia Meeting Centre for Brecon? 3 Background info
- The total grant for the project is for €1,119,819 with the UK-based research being funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, and the University of Worcester receiving €375,000 for its work over the next three years. (from 21 August 2013) source
- The work, however, continues. Results will be published in February next year. A major charity has provided most of the UK operational funding of the two existing DMCs so far. The future of existing and a few in-pipeline DMCs can depend on those results.
- Meeting Centres are an innovative way of supporting people with mild to moderate dementia more
