An exploration of the UK unpaid carer's world

  1. And the discussion is not over.  There's the probability that the opening days have moved up to two, even three.  (That's why a manager might have been deemed necessary.)  If the opening days have not increased, at some stage, stock-taking needs to take place and not in the equipment sense. The volunteers have been running the show.  They put their case to the AB.

 Update 3 Oct

The DIY DMC set of pages has grown and the amount of reading by members of Christ Church needs to be reduced.

Although the Ross DMC pages do not include "DIY", it is such but within the hope of better things.

There is need for remarshalling of all pages. The DIY DMC pages are the main source of info.  If the decision by Elders marks go-ahead, the immediate attention will focus on publicity.

However, a brief conversation with Sheila Jenkins on Sunday suggests that the Nov 2 start might take place. If you are reading this, a word would be appreciated.

The remarshalling is under way so things will appear disjointed.

The Elders have every right for the Ross DMC pages to appear first.  That would mean creating duplicates just to put the Ross heading on and waste time.  The logic is give the right info and in best order as possible.

Some pages on the DIY site are very much shorter versions of the Ross pages on the basis of DIY readers need-to-know.

There is now a Preamble on the DIY DMC Home page here

The page of most use within limited time availability is DIY DMC FAQs here.

On Sunday 25 Sept, we hope to support the Gloucester Memory Walk here.  I hope to be handing out leaflets concerning A DIY Dementia Meeting Centre for your local community here.

This does not compromise our project.  Only if asked, will I say that it is hoped to create a DMC in Ross.  If there are  issues, please make contact.

Some pages there include text from our project on a taster-basis.

On 28 Sept at Leominster, if your visit doesn't encompass table talk, there are points from a feedback session here.

All the Leom pages within this website are unannounced .  I am biding my time as to making them public.  It would be as well to keep this quiet. The staff produce monthly programmes which include names.  I have yet to remove them.

The visit last week included a feedback session.  The carers are considering the creation of an independent website.  My pages will have done a lot of what is needed.

Thought for the day

Much of the current  text under that heading below is of direct interest to vols.  When you and I meet next to discuss operational aspects, we could set an agenda focusing on relevant issues at that stage.

When vols are on the scene, they will be recommended to read the Leominster Dementia Meeting Centre Home page here  with emphasis on the programmes.  We can discuss which activities worked well.  We will focus on simple ones and low-cost ones as on the Activities page.

Deborah 11 Sept

Adding notes in this way will reduce email traffic.  If you'd like to say in a quick email after chunks  seen it, I can label additions Update.

Before starting, a note on Church area use.

This continues previous dialogue and is from -  Email - A DMC for Ross  here

It is encompassed within ways and means.

7.3.3  Use of rooms

  1. From our brief chat on Sunday (two weeks ago) , I gather the main activity area to be the Church itself

  2. It is hoped that the back room will be available

  3. I hope to take a look at available storage space, if any

The main activity area, having taken another look, would be the back room.  (Christ Church - CC- probably has a name for it.) It would save a lot of seating management.

Assume for the moment that we arrive at twenty clients and three volunteers, plus me. There will be times when we split into two groups.  A dozen people can sit in a circle at the back of the Church area without moving more than the twelve seats.  The backroom seats can come from the dining area.

------------------------------------------------

With thought on CC equipment useful to the project, this is from further down this page:

2.1  Equipment

  1. Find out what equipment is available at Christ Church - CC,   Computer projector, screen?  OHP ?  Audio equipment? Film projector? Copier?
Continuing thoughts gathered after looking around today, I note that there are screens.  No office space revealed itself so no copier.  A computer projector and film projector can be hired.

Will the table tennis table be available?

Ditto flip chart.  Will use own paper and pens.

------------------------------------------------

Without wishing to add to your priorities, could you please give me a brief summary of the timing involved in the decision process?

Deborah

You have used the word "hospitality" several times recently and I said I'd send you some text.

A somewhat specialised look at hospitality is here.

Hope it's of use.

Regards

Alan
