Herefordshire’s Inaugural Dementia Symposium

I am writing to invite you to Herefordshire’s Inaugural Dementia Symposium on
29th January at 10am. This event is organised by The Courtyard Theatre and
Architectonicus who are two local Dementia Action Alliance members. The purpose of this
event is to create a network of motivated individuals and businesses, who working together
will transform the way we live well together with dementia in Herefordshire.
To do this we need to find out what is important to you. We want people with dementia and their
carers to take a lead, and want this event to provide a platform for you to voice the things that are important to you in Herefordshire. Future events will then be shaped around these findings.
What will be happening during the day
Discover what activities The Courtyard has on offer, and voice your ideas on what future arts· The event will have representatives from the Dementia Action Alliance who can offer advice
and information to help organisations become more dementia friendly.
· Representatives from Dementia Friends will be at hand to talk about how the Dementia
Friends initiative can be used as a resource to make communities more aware about dementia.
We want organisations in Herefordshire to use this as a tool to change the way their staff
think, talk and act about dementia.
· Architectonicus a local architectural company will be on hand to offer information
and advice on creating accessible dementia friendly environments.
· Meet the Young Dementia Hereford group, a group of people living with early onset dementia
who are all active members within their community.
· Your local Alzheimer’s Society will also be there promoting their activities across
Herefordshire and will be on hand to offer information, advice and support throughout
the day.
· Take a lead – meet people and voice your ideas!
This is an informal and relaxed drop in event, and everybody is welcome.
We welcome you to come along, have your say and discover what’s going on within
your community.
