FdSc Health and Social Care

HLC and the University of Worcester

This foundation degree in health and social care develops the knowledge and skills sought by employers across the spectrum of health and social care.

The course is suitable for anyone working or wanting to work with individuals, families and groups in a range of health and social care settings, including working with children or young people, vulnerable adults, older people, individuals with disabilities or chronic disease and people with mental health problems.

There is a range of progression routes including moving onto degree qualifications in Nursing (Adult, Children's, Mental Health and Learning Disability), Midwifery, Social work, Occupational Therapy, Teaching, Care Home Management and anything related to a Health and Social Care setting.

On completion, you are eligible to apply for direct entry to the third year of the Undergraduate Modular Scheme at the University of Worcester on the Social Welfare BA (Hons) and health related Top-up degrees.

If you look for employment on successful completion of the course, graduates can expect greater employability and enhanced promotion prospects. There will be opportunities open to you in health and care sectors, voluntary and private organisations.

A learning disability specialism pathway is available for this course.

Entry requirements: All applicants will attend an admissions interview and be considered on the basis of experience and/or previous certified learning e.g. BTEC National Diploma, AVCE, NVQ, A-levels and other relevant awards.

This is a 2 year, full-time course (attendance at college is 1 day per week).
