An exploration of the UK carer world

Clap your hands                                                                                 return to main song page here

This might be the first song to be sung.  The general approach with any song is for participants to sing it first.  If there is a backing track, even better.  An assessment of whether to include instruments can follow.

The original version of these lyrics has been simplified:

If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands (clap clap) x2
If you're happy and you know it, then your clap will surely show it
If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands. (clap clap)

If you're happy and you know it, stamp your feet (stamp stamp) x2

If you're happy and you know it, then your feet will surely show it
If you're happy and you know it, stamp your feet. (stamp stamp)

If you're happy and you know it, shout "Hurray!" (hoo-ray!) x2

If you're happy and you know it, then your shout will surely show it
If you're happy and you know it, shout "Hurray!" (hoo-ray!)

with emphasis as above
If you're happy and you know it, do all three (clap-clap, stamp-stamp, hoo-ray!) x2
If you're happy and you know it, then your joy will surely show it
If you're happy and you know it, do all three. (clap-clap, stamp-stamp, hoo-ray!)

Depending on equipment available and those attending, this video  shows lyrics.  I can bring a laptop and amplifier but they are only suitable for the audio aspects.  The same applies to the video here..  Using either would require different lyrics to be printed.  No assumptions are made re reading ability within this broad approach to showing the

possibilities.  Standing up, and turning around are other aspects to be considered.

The second time round, singers could focus on specific instruments.

If you're happy and you have/love it, tweet your bird  - tweet tweet

If you're happy and you have/love it, squeak your mouse - squeak squeak

If you're happy and you play it, chime your chime - chime chime

If you're happy and you play it, bang your drum* - bang bang

If you're happy and you play it, blow your kazoo*  - blow blow

All together!

If you're happy and you know it, all play now  sound sound

If you missed the story, it is here .

 *  The asterisk is there to include several more instruments. By the time anything is arranged, drums, etc will be available.              These kazoos are in stock - 36, and they are all numbered for hygiene purposes here.

The bird, mouse and similar instruments are played with a new straw each time the player changes.
